The party celebrated the defeat of the emergent zombies for a second, but quickly realized there was no time for celebration, as the grim task of deciding the fate of the Stag Lord’s remains still loomed ahead. The air of the fort seemed heavier, as though the spirits of the past awaited their judgment. Davik Nettle, the vengeful bridgebuilder who had been wronged by the Stag Lord, had demanded retribution and had urged the party to toss the Stag Lord’s remains into the river as an offering for his vengeance.

The group debated the best course of action: Djames advocated for eliminating any lingering symbols of the Stag Lord’s reign, ensuring no trace of his tyranny would remain in newfound Amedaria. Kairos warned against meddling too much with curses and suggested a pragmatic approach. Kairos also suggested that to truly rid the region of his influence, we must eventually not only destroy his body but also erase the symbols of his power—the fort, his helmet, and anything else tied to his reign.

Ultimately, the party agreed that all remnants of the Stag Lord’s power - both physical and symbolic - should be erased. This was to begin with casting the Stag Lord’s body into the Sellen River. When the party did so, the currents started swirling and darkening as the corpse touched the water, and the spectral form of Davik Nettle emerged from the edge of the river for one final time. A flicker of peace crossed his ghostly visage before he vanished, leaving behind a +1 Ranseur as a silent token of his gratitude. Leonardo claimed the weapon.

The party recalled a further rumor from one of the captured bandits: a man lay imprisoned in the fort’s basement. We entered the basement of the fort, immediately noting the presence of two large arches and a darkness, where only a smart part of the basement is lit up. As Leonardo passed beneath one of them, he triggered an unexpected event in one of the darker rooms - a face carved into the stone of the ceiling animated and spoke. Leonardo attempted to engage it, asking if it was another of the Stag Lord’s prisoners. Instead of responding meaningfully, the face summoned a large, hostile ant-like creature.

Kairos quickly lit her lantern to dispel the shadows and attempted a Recall Knowledge check to discern the magical nature of the face’s actions, but her insight revealed only that a spell was being cast. The summoned Giant Ant swiftly scaled the wall and launching itself at Leonardo, grappling him with its powerful mandibles.

Leonardo retaliated against the ant, managing to strike it, while Djames bolstered the party with a Courageous Anthem and used Loose Time’s Arrow to quicken both Leonardo and Kairos. The face, proving it was more than a mere summoner, launched an Electric Arc spell that struck both Leonardo and Kairos, leaving them momentarily reeling.

Kairos attempted a Spellstrike to counter the ant but missed entirely, her luck clearly faltering in the moment. Meanwhile, Leonardo raised his shield to defend against further attacks, and Djames wisely moved to a safer position, allowing his horse Jet to engage the Giant Ant. Jet’s attack succeeded in dazzling the creature, momentarily hampering its effectiveness. The face in the wall responded with a Hydraulic Push, forcing Leonardo back and causing damage. Undeterred, Kairos made another Spellstrike, this time channeling Ignition, while the dazzled ant flailed ineffectively at Leonardo.

As the Giant Ant fell to the combined efforts of Kairos and Leonardo, the face in the wall vanished, leaving a momentary calm in its wake. Jet retreated to recover, injured but still capable. However, the respite was short-lived, as the face reappeared and attempted to intimidate Leonardo. Its efforts had no effect. Kairos advanced with her lantern, taking a defensive stance by casting Shield. Djames used this moment to heal Leonardo, patching his wounds while maintaining the party’s morale with another Lingering Composition.

The face proved elusive, disappearing again before Kairos could locate it within the basement’s recesses. Leonardo tried intimidation in turn, while Djames provided additional healing, though his efforts to inspire the group further had limited impact. Finally, Kairos attempted another Spellstrike, but her attack failed to land. Leonardo followed up with a direct attack, which proved effective, ending the threat of the face’s summoned creature and neutralizing the magical presence entirely.

After securing the basement and defeating the mysterious entity, we turned our attention to the rest of the Stag Lord’s fort. A thorough search revealed a significant hoard of loot, which included weapons, gold, gems, and other valuables. Among the more peculiar discoveries was a diary belonging to the creature we had just defeated. Its contents revealed the identity of the face in the wall and its tragic connection to the fort - it was Nugrah, the Stag Lord’s father. The diary painted a grim picture of his descent into madness and his abusive relationship with his son, offering a chilling glimpse into the origins of the Stag Lord’s cruelty.

With the fort thoroughly explored and its occupants dealt with, we turned to the task of ensuring it could no longer serve as a rallying point for banditry or oppression. A funeral pyre was constructed for the undead and bandits who had fallen, a solemn but necessary act to purge the area of their lingering presence. Exceptions were made for Falgrim Sneeg, whose body was to be returned to the Karess Mercenaries as per their request, and the Stag Lord himself, whose remains were tossed into the river to honor the demands of the revenant Davik Nettle.

The fort itself was set ablaze in the final act of closure, its wooden beams crackling and collapsing as flames consumed the structure. This was a largely symbolic destruction, but we hoped that it’d ensure that the Stag Lord’s reign of terror would leave no physical legacy in these lands.

Now that we had time to think towards the future, Djames came up with the brilliant idea to organize a celebration to honor the founding of the new kingdom of Amedaria, and the triumph over adversity - he’d propose calling it the Brightmarch Festiva. Initially, he hoped to hold it on their founding day, but we decided it was best to seek Lady Jamandi Aldori’s blessing first. We set the festival for 13 Gozreh 4710, giving us time to secure approval and prepare for the occasion at Oleg’s Trading Post.

By late afternoon, with the fort behind us, we began our journey to the Sootscale kobolds, intending to build alliances and further our goals in the Greenbelt. Djames sent Noor darting toward the Sootscale caverns as a messenger of our coming, as we made steady progress through the wilderness.

22 Pharast 4710

The day began with a cautious optimism as we traveled deeper into the Greenbelt. By evening, we arrived at a rickety wooden bridge spanning the Sellen River. The structure creaked ominously as we crossed, but it held under our weight. We decided to set up camp on the far side.

The night was interrupted when Djames was woken up by the sound of the bridge rattling. Moments later, a familiar face emerged from the darkness: Nak-Pick, accompanied by four fellow kobolds - Kosk, Brex, Ulsi, and Ruznegok. Their arms were laden with freshly harvested Moon Radishes.

Djames greeted them warmly and expressed surprise that they had not yet received the message Noor had delivered earlier. The kobolds seemed unperturbed by the delay and shared their bounty with us. While Leonardo remained wary at first, the aroma of a kobold-prepared Moon Radish meal softened his stance. Over dinner, Kairos shared various facts about the Moon Radishes, noting their medicinal properties - specifically their ability to counteract the Stupefied condition when cooked properly, a recipe Lizzy happened to know. Leonardo joked that Lizzy maybe should’ve tried more of her own dish. Kairos further explained the Moon Radishes connection to Desna or Groetus, deities who favored things born under moonlight, and their rarity, as they only grow in a single patch within the Stolen Lands.

As the meal concluded, Djames proposed a plan to visit the Sootscale kobolds’ lair as part of the next stop on the trip, and then make their way to Nettle’s Crossing to verify whether Davik Nettle’s spirit had been truly pacified. Nak-Pick chimed in with an intriguing piece of information: about 10 miles to the north-east, the kobolds had encountered a crack in the earth leading to a 20-foot-deep hole filled with glittering and sparkling stones, which she suspected might be a gold mine. This also prompted us to reflect on the kobolds’ home - a silver mine that had long been the heart of the Sootscale community. The idea of potential untapped riches sparked interest among us, though we agreed to focus on our immediate goals first.

Late that night, as the party rested on the far side of the rickety bridge, a loud, splintering crash pierced the stillness of the wilderness. The sound jolted the group awake, their hands instinctively reaching for weapons as they scanned the darkness for signs of danger. It didn’t take long to discover the source of the disturbance: the bridge had collapsed.

The night ended with spirits high and thoughts of opportunities ahead, as the kobolds bid us farewell, continuing on their way.

Summary

23 Pharast 4710

We set out early in the morning toward the Sootscale kobold settlement. The journey was uneventful, with clear skies and the pleasant warmth of early spring accompanying us. Along the way, we discussed plans for the Brightmarch festival, sharing ideas about how best to involve the diverse inhabitants of the Stolen Lands.

By mid-afternoon, we arrived at the Sootscale lair. The kobolds welcomed us warmly and jubilant over the victory over the Stag Lord. We joined the Sootscales in a modest but heartfelt party. The kobolds were eager to share their food, stories, and gratitude for our support.

During the celebration, we extended an invitation to the Sootscale kobolds to join us for a more significant event in less than three weeks - the Brightmarch festival. This festival, we explained, would commemorate not only our victories but the unification of the region’s diverse inhabitants under a common purpose. The Sootscales received the invitation with both curiosity and enthusiasm for the prospect of participating in a larger celebration.

The party continued into the evening, strengthening the bonds between us and the Sootscales. It was a simple yet meaningful day, one that underscored the growing unity within the Stolen Lands.

Summary

  • The party traveled from the former rickety bridge to the Sootscale kobold settlement.
  • Arrived at the Sootscale lair by mid-afternoon and participated in a celebratory gathering. Invited the Sootscale kobolds to attend the Brightmarch festival in two weeks.

24 Pharast 4710

We began the day by bidding farewell to the Sootscale kobolds. Setting out in the cool morning air, we made our way to Nettle’s Crossing.

The crossing, once haunted by the vengeful revenant Davik Nettle, now felt eerily calm. A careful search of the area confirmed what we had hoped: Davik’s spirit was at peace, his demand for justice fulfilled when the Stag Lord’s remains were cast into the river. The sight of the placid waters and the absence of his spectral presence brought a sense of closure to the ordeal.

Satisfied, we continued our journey to the location Nak-Pick had described, eager to investigate the rumored gold mine. By mid-afternoon, after navigating the uneven terrain, we found the site. The glimmering stones and veins of ore confirmed the kobold’s claim - this was indeed a rich vein of gold. A few quick tests by Kairos left no doubt about its authenticity. The discovery opened discussions about how best to secure and utilize the mine, as it could prove vital to the region’s prosperity.

The day ended with plans forming for the future, the potential of the mine shining as brightly as the gold within.

Summary

  • Departed the Sootscale kobolds and traveled to Nettle’s Crossing. Confirmed that Davik Nettle’s revenant had been pacified, with no spectral presence remaining.
  • Continued to the location described by Nak-Pick and found the gold mine. Verified the gold was real.

25 Pharast 4710

We began our journey toward Oleg’s Trading Post, as an intermediate stop to the Free City of Restov in Brevoy. The day was marked by steady travel through the wilderness, the familiar sights of the Stolen Lands giving way to the more well-trodden paths leading north. The spring air carried the faint promise of rejuvenation and tranquillity thanks the changes we had brought to these once chaotic lands. No longer did we feel unsafe during our travels.

As we traveled, we discussed our plans for the Brightmarch festival and the opportunities awaiting us in Restov. The thought of reaching Brevoy, with its bustling cities and political intrigues, filled us with a feeling of anticipation and resolve. We pressed on, and the evening found us camping under a canopy of stars, the newfound quiet of the road giving us time to reflect on how far we had come and what lay ahead.

Summary

  • Journeyed north toward Oleg’s Trading Post. The day was uneventful.

26 Pharast 4710

We reached Oleg’s Trading Post, the familiar sight of the outpost bringing a nice sense of comfort after days of travel. Oleg greeted us warmly but was quick to ask about the large fire he had seen a few days prior. When he mentioned Candlekeep Island, we admitted our lack of knowledge about the place. Djames, however, recalled bits of gossip about the island - it was built by one Leonardo-IV and contains the ruins of half a tower, overrun by cultists and other magic users. Rumors of the Outer Gods surrounded the island, though the term was vague and unfamiliar to us.

Oleg also inquired about the Sootscale kobolds and Old Sycamore, wondering if anything significant had happened in those areas. Djames reassured him and redirected the focus to our achievements, highlighting the defeat of the Stag Lord. He announced our plans for the Brightmarch Festival on 13 Gozran 4710 to celebrate the victory and the founding of Amedaria.

As the day unfolded, our minds turned to the upcoming Brightmarch Festival, a celebration that would not only mark our victory over the Stag Lord but also solidify Amedaria’s place as a rising power in the region. Planning began in earnest, with each of us taking responsibility for different aspects of the event.

Oleg seemed hesitant about the logistics of a large festival but brightened when we assured him we would handle the planning. He suggested reaching out to Bokken, a local alchemist and brewer, to supply liquor and beverages.

Leonardo volunteered to handle invitations to Brevoy’s influential figures. He meticulously drafted messages to the noble houses, Restov’s merchant guilds, and the esteemed Swordlords, aiming to secure the attendance of those whose influence could lend credibility to our fledgling nation. His efforts underscored the importance of forging strong ties with Brevic power players, and his position with in the Brevic nobility made him an ideal candidate for making the proper connections.

Djames was focused on inclusivity and fostering bonds, and turned his attention to less traditional allies. He sent heartfelt invitations to the Sootscale kobolds, the Garess Mercenaries, and our trusted companions like Amiri, Jhod Kavken, and Tristan. He also reached out to the region’s wandering merchants and mercenaries, ensuring that everyone who contributed to our journey would feel welcome. For a charismatic fabulist like Djames, this would be the perfect role.

Meanwhile, Kairos would draft invitations aimed at the leaders of neighboring regions, presenting Amedaria as a cooperative and forward-thinking power. Her outreach was strategic, designed to cultivate alliances and establish a reputation for thoughtful governance. Kairos leaned into her deep knowledge of the River Kingdoms as she had traversed the region for decades.

For entertainment, Leonardo proposed a show-duel, a spectacle that would demonstrate the martial valor and strength Amedaria embodied. Djames took the opportunity to prepare a grand recital, crafting an epic retelling of the events that led to the Stag Lord’s defeat and the founding of Amedaria. Kairos suggested a chess tournament - a subtle but powerful metaphor for the careful planning and intellect that would define Amedaria’s rule.

The menu became a point of focus as well. The liquor confiscated from the Stag Lord’s fort was earmarked for the toasts, a centerpiece of revelry. We planned to listen to Oleg’s suggestion and enlist Bokken, a local alchemist and brewer, to craft non-alcoholic beverages from rare herbs and fruits.

Finally, we turned to the decorations. Djames planned to feature our new flag prominently throughout the celebration to showcase Amedaria’s identity. Kairos envisioned a more magical atmosphere. She would cast spells to create glowing orbs of light, floating banners, and illusionary effects, adding a touch of arcane wonder to the event.

By the end of the day, our plans were beginning to take shape, each piece fitting together to create a celebration that would honor our journey and herald the future of Amedaria. With these plans in motion, we would set out to find Bokken the next day. We used the evening to map the surrounding area, taking note of key landmarks to enhance our understanding of the region.

Summary

  • Arrived at Oleg’s Trading Post.
  • Oleg asked about the large fire and mentioned Candlekeep Island; Djames shared gossip about its history and the Outer Gods.
  • Djames announced the Brightmarch Festival, reassuring Oleg about the logistics. Began planning the Brightmarch Festival:
    • Invitations: Sent to Brevic nobles, Sootscales, allies, and the River Kingdoms.
    • Entertainment: A show-duel, a grand recital, and a chess tournament.
    • Food & Drink: Liquor from the Stag Lord’s fort and herbal beverages from Bokken.
    • Decorations: Amedaria’s flag and arcane effects.
  • Set out to find Bokken and mapped the area near Oleg’s Trading Post.

27 Pharast 4710

We set out from Oleg’s Trading Post with the goal of exploring and mapping the area to the east and finding Bokken, while we steadily make our way toward Restov. The terrain was relatively mild, marked by rolling hills and patches of forest, but it still required careful navigation as we charted the region.

During our reconnoitering, we encountered another group of Tatzlwyrms. These creatures, though small, are tenacious predators and a constant reminder of the dangers that still lurk in the Stolen Lands. The battle was swift but decisive; our experience and coordination ensured the creatures were dispatched with minimal effort.

As we paused to rest after the encounter, Djames decided it was time to notify Restov of our impending arrival. He sent Noor ahead, the bird’s small frame darting into the sky with a message bearing news of our journey. It was a prudent move to prepare Restov for our visit, signaling both our intentions and the strides we had made in stabilizing the region.

The rest of the day was spent continuing our exploration.

Summary for Pharast 27, 4710

  • Explored and mapped the area east of Oleg’s Trading Post en route to Restov.
  • Encountered and defeated a group of Tatzlwyrms (trivial encounter, was not fought)
  • Djames sent Noor ahead to Restov with a message to announce our arrival.

28 Pharast 4710

Our journey toward Restov continued as we pushed further into the lands beyond Oleg’s Trading Post. The task of mapping the region remained our focus, and the landscape revealed new features with every mile. Midway through the day, while navigating a lightly wooded area, we came upon a small, unassuming house nestled among the trees.

Curiosity led us to the door, and we soon found ourselves speaking with the house’s occupant—Bokken, the alchemist Oleg had mentioned. Bokken was a sprightly and somewhat eccentric man who greeted us with enthusiasm, particularly upon hearing of our victory over the bandits. Their defeat, he explained, had lifted a shadow that had long plagued the area.

As we discussed our plans for the Brightmarch Festival, Bokken expressed his willingness to assist, particularly with brewing unique beverages for the celebration. However, he had a request of his own: he needed a special type of berry, which could be found on bushes 55 miles to the south-southwest. He warned us about the bushes, cautioning that they were covered in sharp thorns that could prove troublesome to harvest.

Beyond the berries, Bokken also offered to craft potions for us, his skill as an alchemist evident in the various vials and tools scattered throughout his home. The offer of potions and his enthusiasm for the festival cemented him as a valuable ally. We left with a renewed sense of purpose, planning to gather the berries soon as part of our ongoing efforts to secure resources and alliances.

As the day waned, we continued our reconnoitering, ensuring the area was well-mapped before making camp. The encounter with Bokken reminded us that even in the untamed lands, allies could be found in the most unexpected places.

Summary

  • Continued traveling and mapping the area toward Restov.
  • Discovered a small house belonging to Bokken, the alchemist.
  • Bokken expressed gratitude for the defeat of the bandits and offered to assist us by brewing beverages and potions. He requested special Fangberries found 55 miles to the south-southwest, warning of the sharp thorns on the bushes. We will gather the berries as part of future endeavors.

29 Pharast 4710

The final leg of our journey to Restov stretched over four days. The landscape gradually shifted from the untamed wilderness of the Stolen Lands to the more cultivated and familiar surroundings of Brevoy.

1 Gozran 4710

Each day followed a similar rhythm. We would rise early, break camp, and travel at a steady pace. Though uneventful, the journey served as a quiet interlude, a moment of calm before the diplomacy and celebrations that awaited us in Restov. Conversations during the journey often turned to the Brightmarch Festival, finalizing plans for invitations, events, and logistics. The evenings were spent around the campfire, sharing stories and strengthening the bonds that had carried us through the trials of the Stolen Lands. The sense of anticipation grew with each mile.
