Mitflits of Old Sycamore
The mitflits of Old Sycamore were a cowardly group that once lived in the caves beneath the ancient tree near Sootscale Hill. Known for their cruelty, they frequently captured and tortured weaker beings like kobolds, using crude weapons such as slings and darts to defend their territory. The mitflits, originally numbering around 50, saw their population greatly reduced due to ongoing conflicts, particularly with the Sootscale Kobolds. Their leader, Chief Grabble, oversaw the breeding of giant centipedes and ticks, which the mitflits used as mounts and guards.
Life for the mitflits took a violent turn when Tartuk, the usurper of the Sootscale Kobolds ordered attacks on them. In retaliation, the mitflits raided the kobolds, stealing Tartuk’s Old Sharptooth Statuette, a symbol of power he used to manipulate the kobolds into believing in his shamanistic abilities. Following the raid, Tartuk launched a counter-attack, during which many kobolds, including Mic-Mac, were captured and tortured by the mitflits.
The party arrived at Old Sycamore in time to rescue Mic-Mac, swiftly defeating the remaining mitflits, including Chief Grabble. With Grabble’s death, the remaining mitflits scattered, leaving the caves empty and the region around Old Sycamore safe once more. The party recovered the statue of Old Sharptooth, bringing an end to the mitflits’ reign of cruelty and aiding in the eventual defeat of Tartuk.

5 Pharast 4710 We ventured into the tunnels beneath Old Sycamore, an ancient landmark tree. There, we encountered two Mitflits arguing over tools and weapons. Despite an attempt at negotiation by Leonardo, the Mitflits responded aggressively, leading to a battle. Both Mitflits were subdued, one captured for interrogation. The captured Mitflit revealed that their group consisted of around 50 members allied with other dangerous creatures, including those with “long claws and tails”.
Continuing our exploration of the Mitflit tunnels, we engaged in further skirmishes with the creatures. A strategy involving ambushes and terrain manipulation helped the party dispatch additional Mitflits. We also uncovered signs of the mitflit conflict with the Sootscale Kobolds, including a map suggesting the Mitflits’ diminished numbers due to the ongoing war. The tunnels appeared to be in disarray, reflecting the Mitflits’ loss of resources and morale.

6 Pharast 4710 We fought a group of Mitflits blocking our path to the Sootscale Kobold caverns. These Mitflits were better armed but disorganized, relying on slings and darts. Despite their efforts, they were quickly defeated, allowing us to proceed. This battle marked the end of significant Mitflit resistance in the area.
