David Nettle

Davik Nettle was once a mortal engineer who operated a toll-system over a bridge he built over the Shrike River, providing travelers with safe passage across the treacherous waters. A hardworking and principled man, Davik refused to yield to the demands of the Stag Lord and his bandits, who sought free and unrestricted access to his bridge. This defiance proved to be his undoing, as the Stag Lord retaliated by burning Davik alive in his home, leaving his charred remains to haunt the crossing.

Now, Davik Nettle exists as a restless undead spirit bound to Nettle’s Crossing. His form is a ghastly reminder of his tragic fate, with flesh dripping from his bones and his visage twisted by a mix of hatred and sorrow.

  • 13 Pharast 4710 Before meeting Davik in person, Djames was haunted by recurring nightmares of the undead toll-keeper. In these dreams, Davik appeared, begging for vengeance and justice.

  • 16 Pharast 4710 Upon ringing the rusted bell at the crossing, we summoned Davik, who emerged from the ruins of his former home. He recounted his tragic story and demanded retribution for his murder at the hands of the Stag Lord. Specifically, Davik sought the bandit leader’s death and the casting of his corpse into the Shrike River as payment for his suffering.

Despite our sympathy for Davik’s plight, we refused to make promises of vengeance, choosing to pursue justice on their own terms. Lizzy attempted to offer peace and freedom, but Davik, consumed by hatred, rejected her overtures.
