Chief Sootscale

The “fearless” “leader” of the Sootscale Kobolds, Sootscale was the latest of a long line of leaders to hold his name and title. But with the arrival of a mysterious outsider in the shape of Tartuk undermining his rule, Sootscale found himself slowly but surely losing his leadership position… until we arrived to aid them!

Sootscale is more physically intimidating than many of the other Kobolds in the area, standing at 3’6 and more muscular. Alongside the side of his face, he had prominent frills, and he dresses ornately with bone, fur and hide trim all over his body, and a ring in his nose marking him as the leader of the clan.

• 6 Pharast 4710 We met Chief Sootscale in the Sootscale Caverns with his kobold clan. We presented him with the statue of Old Sharptooth, but he shatted it in front of all the other Kobolds. He yelled that the curse was now broken.

  Chief Sootscale insisted that we had to defeat the usurper Tartuk before considering alliances or rebuilding the tribe. After giving information about Tartuk’s strong magical influence and his loyal warriors, Chief Sootscale assisted us during the final confrontation, leading an assault through the back entrance and subduing one of Tartuk’s bodyguards.

  After Tartuk’s defeat and the end of the Old Sharptooth curse, Chief Sootscale was elated and rewarded us with 40 gold, expressing his willingness to ally with them in the future. He also entrusted Lizzy with the broken statue of Old Sharptooth, with the promise that it would never be repaired. Lizzy returned him a single shard, as a sign of trust, as she could never repair that statue without the final shard.
