2 Rova 4710 (Continued)

Near the dilapidated pier lay the shattered remains of three wooden crates. Animals and rot had gotten to most of the contents. A glass vial had survived intact—a moderate potion of swimming. A tattered leather pouch held 15 gold pieces and a garnet worth 55 gold.

The water is covered in a greenish scum, and the land is marshish and swamey. We see ghost-ish lights above the swamps, slowly entering the towers. Kairos identifies it as Will ‘o wisps. They’re abberations, often occuring in the River Kingdoms. This behavior of luring them deeper into the swamplands is common. They tend to glow, and live in desolate swamps and forests.

We explore the island before following the wisps. Leonardo sees signs of Yogg-Sothoth. At several places, glyphs of Yogg-Sothoth are carved into walls. The trees are relatively indigenous, and the island is relatively known among the population of the River Kingdoms.

Leonardo walks into the tower, and is deeply unsettled, deeply afraid of something in the tower. Kairos detects some high level magic present at the tower.

A will o wisp rises up from behind Weiss, and surprises the party. The Wisp attacks Djacques and Weiss, then goes invisible. Djacques recalls that Wisps are magic-immune, except to Forge Barrage, Quandary, and Revealing Light. Leonardo attacks towards Djacquess, then uses Shield of the Spirits on Kairos.

Kairos draws her scroll of See the Unseen, and casts it. The Wisps attacks Weiss and Djacquess again, but the Shields of the Spirits defends for some of the damage (though the Wisp is immune to the damage itself). The Wisp then attacks Kairos for electricity damage. Djacquess uses Force Barrage. Leonardo finishes up the Wisp with Sure Strike leading into a Shielded Advance.

We gain +80xp.

We return into the tower. Leonardo feels the same sense of dread again, and Djacquess follows, and also becomes unsettled by the sense of dread. Kairos follows, and becomes less scared (failure, not critical failure). Partially concealed under a stone in the interior of the tower is a unique bloodletting kukri named Thirst.

Djacquess identifies the Bloodletting property. Kairos identifies that the weapon damage doubles against humans, if it has killed another human in the last 24 hours.

The tower has few openings, except for a window to the west and a staircase tumbling down. When we go down, we arrive in a cellar that has been used as a altar for Yogg-Sothoth. There are coins here from the Age of Destiny. The altar reads “We are those who stand at the threshold”, but Leonardo realizes that the basin reads “We are the thresholders”.

Kairos detects some magic.

Djacquess cautiously picks up the coins with an eyebrow pincet and places them in a small pouch, afraid that they’re cursed. We follow deeper in the cellar, and Kairos recognizes it as indicative of a high-level that occured millenia ago. Kairos remembers some stories about Yogg-Sothoth fighting Pharasma. Kairos spends another while researching and learns that it was a Meteor Spell.

The next wall is massive, surrounded by three arched doorways with runes. The other arches surround blank stone. We enter combat. Djacquess uses Lingering Composition with a Courageous Anthem, then moves to Daze. Kairos moves in to Spellstrike, but notices her strike doesn’t deal as much damage as it should’ve done. One of the creatures moves into Leonardo, and steals his Shadow. Leonardo uses Shields of the Spirits and moves.

Djacquess uses Recall Knowledge, and realize that they’re creatures named Shadows, praying on those who stray too far from the light.
