Howl-of-the-North-Wind

Howl-of-the-North-Wind is a warg encountered by the party on 29 Arodus 4710, west of the Lonely Barrow. He serves as a territorial guardian for Hargulka, a notorious troll leader.

Encounter (29 Arodus 4710)

After exploring the Lonely Barrow, the party traveled west and was confronted by Howl-of-the-North-Wind. The warg spoke in Orcish (which Leonardo could understand) and his tone was threatening.

Howl-of-the-North-Wind demanded to know what the party was doing in his territory, declaring that this land had already been promised to Hargulka. He warned that Hargulka would return and conquer their lands.

The warg sneered that the Common tongue was primitive and repulsive, refusing to speak it.

Leonardo noticed movement in nearby bushes, suggesting the warg may not have been alone.

Characteristics

Species: Warg

  • Wargs typically hunt in packs

  • Fast but not particularly strong, unless encountering a rare witch-warg

Behavior:

  • Territorial and aggressive
  • Loyal to Hargulka
  • Disdainful of non-Orcish speakers
  • Confident in his master’s eventual victory

Significance

Howl-of-the-North-Wind’s presence suggests that Hargulka’s influence extends into the areas west of the Lonely Barrow, potentially threatening the party’s kingdom. His warnings indicate that Hargulka has territorial ambitions and is actively claiming lands in the region.
